Is this the most expensive porridge in Dublin?
PORRIDGE IS ONE of the most nourishing breakfasts around.
It’s having a bit of a moment — sure you can’t go on Instagram without being bombarded by photos of people’s pretty porridge, can you? — and beginning to shed its label as a grim school breakfast.
As such, cafés and restaurants all over Dublin have begun to add it to their breakfast and brunch menus.
At a quick glance, the average price for a bowl of porridge in Dublin seems to be around €4 (including toppings) although some places charge between €5 – €7.
In Dublin’s swanky hotels, bowls of porridge are inevitably more expensive.
Balefes in The Westbury Hotel charges €5.50 for a bowl of regular porridge and €8.50 for a bowl of porridge served with Irish Mist whiskey. (Okay.)
A bowl of “steel cut cinnamon scented porridge” in The Westin, meanwhile, will set you back a cool €6.50.
And The Shelbourne charges €7.75 for its porridge served with lavender honey.

The most expensive porridge we’ve found, though?
That would be the porridge served in Dalkey restaurant Wanderlust, which is €8. We know it’s organic, but…
Wanderlust Wanderlust
It’s the cheapest item on the menu (along with a grilled ham and cheese toastie served with fries) but the most expensive item on the menu is a burger for €12.50. (The rest of the items are mostly around €9/€10 — standard brunch price.)
Yes, for just €4.50 more, you can have a burger and fries (a fine feed, by any stretch) instead of porridge.
What gives, Wanderlust?
